I had a doctor's appointment today (did I throw you off with that post title?). I was having some weird symptoms.... stomach pain, chest tightness, back pain, gas, bloating... hey, I try to be honest here. And you know what he told me?
Stress!
No, really. Me? Stress? Now?
Ha ha! I pretty much knew that's what it was but you know how those things go. The more you think about it, even though you tell yourself it's probably stress, the more stress you feel about it. Ah well. He said if I want I can take a little Prilosec for a week or two and that will help.
My doctor is a wonderful man who also happens to go to our church. I was talking to him a bit about the baby and told him A is dilated to one already. He asked if it was her first baby and when I told him it is her third he said, "Well, that baby will probably be born within a few days then..."
I don't know why, but for some reason when he said that it just hit me. I'm sure my eyes popped open. In my brain I was screaming, "In a few days?!" I was prepping myself for at least another week or two.
What the heck am I doing blogging?!?! I need to get some things together before this little girl arrives!
But let's hear it. What do you think? Days or weeks? What have your experiences been - especially for those of you that have given birth a couple times?
We're gonna have a baby!

I have no experience to share, but everytime your blog title is bolded my heart skips a beat for you! Still waiting for THE post!
For some reason I thought this was her first. I'm probably mixing up birth moms :0)
SOON. Unless she has a history of really slow progress, SOON.
Yippee!
Julie...
uh, the other Julie
Awww! I love babies. When they are so tiny there is nothing more precious in the world. I am so excited for you!
I, as you might recall, have had two and both were induced. But even being induced the second one came much quicker than the first. So I can only image how much quicker the third goes.
With all this extra good stress, I am sure it will help motivate you in getting all the needed tasks done.
I will say she will be born, oh let's say a date, on 5/12. So, if my predicition is correct you have 4 full days left to get hustling! I will be checking to see if I am right. :)
Thanks for the comment the other day. I never realized that a blog would be such a great support group. Wonderful things have happened since I wrote it out.
Praying for your safe trip and healthy little girl.
Well, my experience is that you can be dilated for weeks before labor actually starts. I was dilated at a one for like a month before my third baby came. Once labor started it was only 3 hours until he was here. Just my $.02 :)
Jessica
Hmmm. I might be the rarity here :)
Molly (1st) dilated 1-2 for the last 2 weeks. She was born at 40w4d. 9lbs1oz
Ryan (2nd) dilated 3 for over 2 weeks! Had to be induced at 40w4d. 11.8 lbs.
Kyle (3rd) Induced at 38 weeks due to size concerns. I was dilated to a 1 for a week or so before he was born. 9lbs8oz
Baby A (4th) Scheduled induction at 39w0d. I have been dilated to a 1 for a week now.
My experience is that dilation means nilch :( My body likes to hang on to these babies until the well after my due date!!
Here's hoping that one is a good sign for A!

PS Cutz- My email is eficat2@yahoo.com ;)
With my second (and final) child, I was dilated at 4 cm for two weeks or so...when the doctor told me that, I quickly deduced that I would be able to get an epidural immediately. Joy.
However, once the water was broken (by one of those neat crochet hook looking things, operated by my docotr), he was born 29 minutes later.
I don't think your doctor knows squat...except how to get a rise out of you :-) He is a man, after all.
So excited for you!
so exciting.
Eloise was a week late and I was dialated to 4 cm for 3 weeks. 9 hour labor.
Lily was a week early and 2 cm for a week. 11 hour labor.
can't wait to hear all about it.
I think you've got some time. I mean not a TON of time but maybe a week or so. I'm pretty sure that I hang out at a "1" or even a "2" for the last couple of weeks and then the baby still doesn't come out.
I'm induced between my doctor's golf games.
And then it does.
Buuuuut didn't you say her other two have come earlier? So she's probably not like me and you can toss all this info out to your chickens. You still have chickens, right?
;)
I have no personal experience in this area, and professionally, I'm not involved with the "before", just the "after". But in light of your stress, my advice is to try to let some of the small things go and just enjoy being a family of four before your fifth arrives. If you don't get flowers planted before you bring Xochi home, she won't hold it against you.
Not a clue here, but I know she's a-coming, Cutz! Any day. And I need to get shopping for a couple of baby gifts :)
Woo HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
I'm glad everything is falling into place for you!
Oh - and I thought of you the other day when I was in Chicago. I was shopping at Land of Nod and imagining the out come of the kids' room over at your house. I need photos!!!
xoxoxox,

I am getting baby fever reading all your posts lately!!! Okay....so for us here's how it went:
#1:dialated to 1cm @35 wks, then up to a three by 36 and went into labor at nearly 39 weeks.
#2: 1cm @36wks, 3cm @37wks,5cm for a week and a half until delivery at 39wks!
#3: solid 1-2cm until water broke @38wks
#4: solid 1-2cm from 35-37wks...up to 3-4 until delivery @39wks.
No preterm labor signs with anyone....just braxton hicks contractions and the endless thinking that I was going to go into labor any day for weeks on end!
So excited to hear about the arrival of your sweet girl!
