I Ordered My Camera!!

And I got such a sweet deal on it!

I had searched around on the internet a bit and found the best deal (by about $50) on Dell's small business site. I wanted to be sure and buy it from a reputable company - not just on ebay or something - in case something should go wrong with it. Late last night I was looking over it, seeing what accessories I needed to buy, and decided to call Dell and make sure it came with a battery charger. So I call them up and tell them I'm about to order it and she says, "Well, since you called - I can give you a better deal. We like to drop the price if people call..." Go figure!

I wasn't about to argue with her so I graciously accepted her price of $236. This baby retails for $299 - even at Walmart it's like $271. On the Dell site they had it for $254 or something. With free shipping and handling they basically comped my tax. Isn't that cool!? And it does come with a battery charger - check that off the list.

I'm so excited for it to get here. And I feel like I will be more inspired to blog if I have some decent pictures to go with it. At least I hope so. I think of a million things a day that I want to write about but always talk myself out of it. And after reading this poor lady's blog - I sometimes hesitate to write about anything the least bit controversial. Although, have you noticed that nobody usually comments on the serious posts? It's just the shallow fun ones that get like 15 comments. (fifteen comments is a good day for me - not like this blog that I read religiously and love but am too nervous to put on my blogroll. Kind of like when you were a freshman trying to talk to a senior at the pop machine in the cafeteria) She gets a bazillion comments. My friend Martha's not doin' so bad either these days. ;-)

In a strange coincidence (especially since we never watch it) - they're currently talking about cameras on Sesame Street today.....Elmo's singing, "Camera, camera, camera, camera, camera, camera, camera, camera"..... (yes, you do hear Twilight Zone music playing in your head).

OH! Pictures finally. I was starting to forget what you looked like ;-)

And I stayed away from Baker's comments yesterday... some are just blind and nothing you say helps.

Good luck on the extra posts! I did my part.

I so know what you mean about the serious posts not getting comments. I had a hard time with that when I put a lot of heart into something that I thought really mattered and no one commented (or just my very best friends) and then I would post a recipe and get exponentially more comments. Oh well, what can you do?

looks like a good camera. A good lens is important for taking good pictures and the really small ones just don't do the job. That looks like it's a good size.

Ah yes...I had to follow the link.

And I too know what you mean about the serious posts. I always feel dumb if I post something serious and no one comments.

Obligatory comment... :)

I'm so excited for you to get your new camera! Did I tell you that I thought for sure I was getting a new camera for Christmas? I thought I was. It turned out that I didn't. I got skis instead. A great gift, just not what I had expected. I think that made it even better.

How did I turn this into Me Hour?

Oh, girl!

LOVE that new camera, you lucky ducky!! I think Elizabeth Hill should upgrade soon, too. My camera is only 2 years old, but it already looks ancient and the pictures are just okay.

Ohmygosh....I just read the blog you were talking about. First of all, I know what you mean about the zilcho comments when posting something serious.....also, why would you go to someone's blog and challenge their beliefs like those commentators did? If I don't agree with something, I just click that red and white box with the X in it! No need to get all worked up, it's THEIR blog, man!
But reading about other people's religious beliefs doesn't really get me all that riled-up anyway.....every body has their own thing.

Thanks for your b-day wishes to my sa-WEET Zuddy:)

Congrats on ordering your new camera! That's awesome. I know what you mean about blogging with pictures. It's so much more fun to write when you have visual aids....LOL.
I can't wait to see all the pictures you're going to post!

YAY FOR CUTE KIDS AND CAMERA'S!!!

I've been thinking about this for a couple of days.

IMHO, serious posts don't get comments for a few reasons. This is a 'mommy blog' it's not meant to be serious. Serious posts are meant for serious blogs. With serious readers.

I come to your blog and other mommy blogs to be entertained and to see what their munchkins are up to. I'm reading these in between redirecting and diaper changes and picking up food off of the floor. I don't have the mental energy to digest much seriousness nor the time to write a serious response.

Other reasons could be that maybe your readers just don't care enough to make a stand or take the time to write a thought out response. Because really, if you're going to have a serious discussion, especially in a comments forum or a bulletin board, you have to that some time to craft a response that doesn't make you look or feel like an idiot.

Michele - I think you're right. Although, the funny thing is that I never intended for this to be a "mommy blog." That said, I really don't know what I started it as but was hoping it would be somewhere along the lines of my description: Love. Truth. Love - which is a method I learned in Bible study about how to broach challenging exhortations. I suppose maybe I wanted a place where I could put down my thoughts about different topics - including, but not limited to, "mommy" topics.

I know what you mean about wanting to have time to write a thorough response. Also, I often don't comment if I don't agree with something the person has written. Mostly because, as in the Baker's Dozen blog, I know that people are using their blogs as a way to document their lives and aren't looking for controversy. I'm also learning that I don't have to voice every single opinion that pops into my head.

It's kind of a funny thing though - because I find myself doing it too. Like when Jodi posted about her friend's little girl that was sick. I could have posted, "I'll be praying..." or something simple like that - but for some reason I didn't. Go figure.
