Day 4

Breakfast: GF oatmeal with blueberries, cinnamon and agave nectar. It was the best d*%# oatmeal I've ever had in my life. I'm finding that when you can't eat much, you really appreciate what you can eat. Super antioxidant smoothie again.

Lunch: Ethiopian cabbage dish As soon as I can eat a couple more things I am ordering a full meal from Ambo Ethiopian Cuisine. She caters. Most of it is elimination diet safe. I can't wait.

Snack: two kiwis

Dinner: Variation on my Great Grandma Ercy's chinese noodles with vegetable broth, veggies and rice noodles. It was really bland. (drat! Was looking for the chinese noodles recipe I posted. Must not have labeled it) Side salad based on the one Sarah at In Praise of Leftovers posted here. I used the green apple salad dressing I made yesterday.

Dessert: Cherries and mango that our friends who came for dinner brought over - topped with coconut milk and agave nectar. (Don't worry, I didn't feed them the bland soup. They got the real thing)

I'm feeling: Pretty darn good. Surprisingly, again, not hungry. Feeling a little bloated all day and last night (sorry, is that too personal?) so I'm concerned that something I'm eating isn't agreeing with me. Oats? I don't think it could be the rice or quinoa, but perhaps. Hard to know. Or maybe I accidentally ate something I shouldn't have?

Titled: Chicken in fluorescent heels with a shotgun

Glad you're feeling good! That's one cute chicken you got there. I just love her.

Cutzi, I'm thinking of trying an elimination diet to attempt to solve my problems with migraines, psoriasis, eczema, and weight. I also just found out yesterday I have arthritis in my ankle from the break and metal implant surgery I had last year. A friend of mine who is in school to be a Nutritionist actually suggested it, and suggested that egg and dairy products might be a contributing factor to the migraines in particular.

...just letting you know I'm watching your blog closely to see how it's working - but I do have a question - how do you handle the cooking of two separate meals for every single meal? (One for your family, one for you) Do you still eat together at the same table, at the same time? (Family dinners are my favorite time of day!) I wonder about how much extra time it would take to prepare the additional food- not that it would prevent me from doing it, I'm just curious how you're handling it.

I gotta give you props, Cutzi, for sticking with this thing! I am impressed! I once over-did kale, (raw) and I learned my lesson the hard way (talk about too much information... sorry). That's why I stick to chocolate. It's safe.

Oh I just read Denise's comment, and I used to have really REALLY bad psoriasis last year and I tried all sorts of crazy food plans, and the only thing that worked for me was dealing with underlying emotional stress! That's just me, though. Man, I'm just totally into dishing out all my personal bits today!!!

Denise - I'm actually glad to think I might be helping someone else out in this process - especially because some aspects of it are VERY challenging.

Regarding meals - I'll try to post my dinner plans for the next couple of weeks this weekend. I sat down and spent a good while figuring out meals that I could easily add meat to so that I wouldn't have to cook a completely different meal. Honestly, I have spent A LOT of time in the kitchen this week. With your work schedule, I think it would be really helpful for you to cook a bunch of stuff over a weekend (ie. a big pot of beans, a big batch of quinoa) so that it would be ready for you throughout the week. The smoothies are fast and easy to prepare and my kids have been enjoying them too.

In past experience, I feel much better when I limit/cut out some things. I have pretty bad allergies and do best if I limit dairy. A trip to a nutritionist or naturopath might be really helpful to you. I'll be sure and keep you posted on my end of things...

Suzy - Only you! (well, and maybe me...) How do you overdo it on Kale? Thanks for the props. It hasn't been as hard as I imagined it would be. Although I must confess that when I was dishing out Costco pizza and churros tonight it was a little bit hard. Ok - a lot hard. ;-)
