And a Happy Halloween It Was...

This was our first official year of trick-or-treating and let me tell you, it was all a treat! After picking up a couple lattes (my first eggnog of the season) we headed out around our neighborhood. We probably only went to about 10 houses but Steele loaded up on the goods! One neighbor, a sweet old man, must have given him about 10 pieces of candy.

Then we headed to my mom's house for dinner. My mom always has a "pre-funk" for the neighbor kids at her house. (my little brother and sister are 8 and 10) and then the kids all hit my mom and stepfather's neighborhood. Justin took Steele to a couple houses there and then we went to Mee Mee's (my grandma). I was a little disappointed that we arrived kind of late to her house since she lives in a retirement neighborhood and I always like to take the kids around and visit the old people. By the time we got there I think they were all in bed. It was so much fun nonetheless.

While we aren't huge Halloween people - we love family time and making family memories. It's fun to get creative with costumes, greet neighbors and share some smiles, visits and candy. This year, Halloween was all I'd hoped it would be.

Did Steele's pants work out OK?

OMYGOSH!!!!!

These are the *cutest* costumes EVAH!!!

What a great idea....did you make them yourself? I just LOVE them.

They wouldn't be nearly as cute without your adorable children in them, though!

Awesome.

There's got to be a contest for you to enter them in next year, like the one at Family Fun Magazine? Seriously....you'd win a prize.

xoxo,
martha

Oh my word. I wish you could have seen the way my jaw dropped when I scrolled down and saw that picture. Costumes=amazing. Children=adorable. Adia looks like an actual Cabbage Patch Kid. You're incredible.

Thanks everyone for all your nice compliments! I had a lot of fun making them - creative,home-made costumes are kind of a tradition in my family. Passed down all the way from my great grandma Ercy. And yes, I did sew just about every last bit of them - except the shoes. All without a pattern I might add. (yes, now I am boasting a bit... I'll stop.) And, I'm agreeing with many of you that the braids were my favorite part. My only regret? I wish I hadn't done Steele's eyebrows dark - it would have been a cuter effect I think.

Oh - and Jess - the pants turned out great. Only a little small in the bum. Thanks for the tip!
