It Was Like....me.

Or us.

Or them.

Sort of.

We just finished watching Juno. I loved it. But even saying I loved it doesn't seem to do justice to the feelings I had about it. I could relate to it in so many ways. I could almost feel myself in it. Feel how it was.

Once again, as I do on many occasions, I thought about "our" two birth mothers and how I love them. They are girls, sort of like Juno, quirky and lovable each in their own way. Beautiful. And even though we don't get to see them often they are forever a part of lives. A part that I cherish. I see them in my childrens' sweet faces, in their laughter and in their little toes that don't look like mine. Steele and Adia are our children - God ordained that from the beginning - but they are also their birth mothers'. God also planned that. I don't understand it fully - but I know He planned it. And I think it's pretty cool.

As Juno pushed her final push and that little boy came out I cried - remembering how special it was that I got to be at both Steele and Adia's births. Nothing *nothing* is more amazing. I asked Justin if he was crying. (he always does)

"No," he replied, "But it makes me want another baby."

And we are praying about one...

God may have something in the works. He's always creative and surprising that way. I think that's pretty cool too.

Closely Followed By...

Video #2

Steele in all his glory. Waaaayyyyy past bedtime....

My First Video!

I know you're all waiting for vacation pictures but it just takes so dang long to upload all of them! So instead I thought I'd try this. I'm missing something or other to use video from our video camera but realized tonight that I could use my digital camera. So here it is... my first video. Adia Moon in all her talking cuteness. This adds a whole new dimension to my blogging personae. For some reason it's cool to me that you'll all know what my voice sounds like now. Well, pretty much what it sounds like. It's still a little scratchy from being sick.

And don't ask why the lighting is all yellow. I'm not techno savvy enough to figure that out yet. Let me know if you're able to watch it though. I'm so excited!

Words of Wisdom From Steelio

While reviewing memory verses with Steele....

Justin: Blessed are the peacemakers.

Steele: Blessed are the cheesemakers.

Yes. Them too.

While putting on Steele's shirt this morning....

Steele was standing on his bed and I was putting his shirt over his head. He reached out (I think) to catch his balance (although he's had a little too much interest in my chest lately) and I backed away slightly...

Steele: Oh! Sorry mama. I didn't think about your boobas.

Time To Get Real

Hi folks. It's me. Cutzi.

I'm writing this morning because I have something to confess to all of you. I mean, it is Sunday and all and I just didn't feel right about continuing on in this lie I've been living. Ok, here goes.....

Well, see that little list over there? The one on the right titled "Blogs of Note"? Well, ummmm..... it should actually be longer. Muuuch longer. And, I guess I wasn't being totally dishonest because it's not titled "Blogs I Read" or anything but still... it leads you all to think that I have even an ounce of blog reading self control. And the truth is: I don't.

I had a goal once. It was to keep my Google reader list under 20. But I'm addicted I tell you! Addicted! It's because I have all these cool friends. And every time I find out about a new blog they're reading I think to myself, "Well, if they read it and like it, it must be worth reading. I should read it too." And I add it to my list.

So, not only am I confessing this to you this morning but I'm gonna make it right. I'm going to add all the ones I read regularly to the list.

Don't blame me if they show up on your Google reader.

I'm Home!

I like to be home. Especially when it's sunny outside. We got so much work done today - in the house, out of the house. My yard is looking beautiful. I went and bought all the stuff to start my vegetables today. I can't wait. I probably should have done it earlier but I didn't want to worry about them getting watered while I was gone. Steele and I may plant some seeds tomorrow - it will be a fun little project for the two of us. Justin and I also staked out the raised beds we're going to put in - I really think they're going to look spectacular.

All in all we had a fun vacation - I'll post pictures soon. For now though, I wanted to post a quick movie review. For some reason we don't seem to get through a lot of movies in our home. We try - we have blockbuster.com - but we hardly get around to watching them. We did get around to watching this though and I loved it. I'm not quite sure why but I really did. It was funny - in a dry sort of way. And it was heart-warming. I just liked it.

Goin' on Vacation and To Do's

I thought I'd better jump on real quick and post up. The kids are napping (sort of) and I've got a ton to do today. We've been a little busy over the last few days preparing for a trip to the Oregon Coast. I can't wait! When I was a little girl my great-grandparents lived in a little town called Yachats - south of Newport, more than half way down the coast. Every spring break, at least my mom and I would head down for vacation. (my mom is a teacher so she always had the week off) I say "at least" because sometimes we would bring my aunt with us. After she had her first baby all four of us went down one year (leaving my Uncle Mike at home). Sometimes we would bring my cousin Morgan with us. Morgan's 11 months younger than me and we always had a blast. (And since I'm talking family I'll put in a shameless brag about my cousin Sketch the film maker - Morgan's brother - who won an emmy for his documentary on reefnet fishing) Anyhow, it was tradition. After I graduated from high school and my mom got married we somehow got out of the habit. I hadn't been down for almost 10 years so last year Justin and I packed up the kids and went down.

About an hour before I left last year (I was to pick Justin up at the fire station on our way through Seattle, as I am doing again this year) I called Justin and asked him if he would mind if my grandma came. Being the fab hubby that he is, he of course did not mind. So I called my grandma and told her to pack her bags and that I'd be there in an hour to get her. This year we planned ahead a little more, as I believe Grandma already has her bags packed. My parents and Abbey and Gabe are also coming down so we're prepared for a week of fun - as long as we don't all get sick of each other.

Some of my best childhood memories are of spending the day in Newport visiting the wax museum and Ripley's Believe It or Not. After that we'd usually head over to Mo's for some clam chowder and a bucket of steamer clams. My mom sent me this link the other night. She said she was doing some planning and happened to click on this at 12:30 a.m. with the volume turned up far too high on her computer. Now if that doesn't get you in the mood I don't know what would. We would also often visit the Oregon Coast Aquarium which they've updated and Steele really enjoyed last year. Justin wants to be sure and hit this place while we're down there too. Yum. We'll bring back some souvenirs from there, I'm sure. Sometimes we would head south a bit to Florence and the sand dunes or to the Sea Lion Caves (which are smelly and overpriced but fun none-the-less). This year I'd really like to try and visit Heceta Head light house. Isn't it beautiful? On the way home we like to take the scenic route through Astoria and make a stop at the Tillamook Cheese Factory. (oh, they serve ice cream there too? I didn't know that....)

Since the weather on the coast is very similar to here it's not likely to be sunny and beautiful, even in the summer. In fact, this week's forecast is calling for mostly showers. But there's still something wonderful about curling up on the couch in front of the fireplace with a good book or a movie and seeing and hearing the waves crash against the beach while the rain pounds the windows. I love smelling the salty sea air and feeling the wind when I step out of the car. I'm looking forward to some rest and some time to not think about anything but enjoying my family. If I had a little more time and energy I'd hop up and find some pictures of myself from one of our vacations as a little girl. Maybe later. But I promise I'll have a bunch when I get home from this trip.

Ok - since I'm on here and my mind is going a million thoughts a second, I'll think I'll write my to-do list. Mostly for myself. You may or may not find it even one iota interesting.
