From My Reader

When I first ventured into the world of blogs I would read them and feel overwhelmed. I would see all the crafty, decorative things people were doing and it would somehow make me feel very inadequate. Over time, though, I have learned to appreciate the many and varied gifts and talents people have. I have formed a new philosophy - it is that creativity begets creativity. Now, instead of feeling inadequate, I feel inspired by the ideas I read. Sometimes I use them specifically - sometimes I think they get stored away somewhere in my brain and culminate, on the rare day that my brain has time to stop for a moment, into my own creativity. I like that.

Another interesting thing I've noticed about blogdom is that Tuesdays seem to be especially good blog days. I'm not sure why - maybe it's because people's brains have had time to settle down from the weekend and by Tuesday they're able to get into the swing of things more. Not unlike many other Tuesdays, today happened to be teeming with beautiful ideas. I don't know about you, but with fall coming into all it's cozy glory - I have begun curling up on the couch with decorating magazines, knitting projects... my mind is starting to head toward Christmas gifts. The blogs I've been reading have been fueling my joy for being home, being with my family, making, creating, cooking. So today, I thought I would pass some inspiration along to you. Enjoy!

I've been kitchen dreaming lately. I loved the kitchen ideas in this post.

I did some embroidery when I was younger. This post re-inspired me. It also made me think of these sweet designs.

I've been working on this hat, but sadly had to rip a bunch out last night. Grrrr.

These are cute. Would make some cute gifts with home made flavored vinegars.

I haven't figured out quite why yet, but I love reading the Dear Golden Vintage blog. She often has great links too.

Two that I have especially loved recently are Little Green Notebook and Toast.

I've felt inspired by this cute little hair-do. I think I'll let a professional take care of that one.

This post wouldn't be complete without a shout-out to your local Craigslist. I've found some awesome furniture lately and have been painting away. I'm hoping to actually finish something soon and post pictures.

I'm so excited! Today is the first day of fall story time at our local library. My kids were jumping for joy when I told them. So I best be off - but I hope you were inspired by some of these great ideas around the web!

I love that hairstyle--I actually thought it was a picture of you at first!

Thanks for the links! I, too, often get overwhelmed by all of the great ideas that remind me of everything I want to change. I've realized that if I allow myself to feel guilty, I'll never make any improvements. I figure if I'm not inspired enough to do it, it must not be bothering me that much!

Fun! I've been thinking about Christmas gifts too. :)

I liked those ideas from The Inspired Room also. Especially the open shelving picture and pretty much everything about the white kitchen with the vintage stove.

I love the hat - Brendan wears lots of hats in the winter, so it will be a perfect addition to his Birthday gift collection - I'd better get started!!!

I also thought it was a picture of you.

I get so inspired with these ideas, and then remind myself that i have only have so many hours in the day, and need to get a reasonable amount of sleep to function, so sometimes things fall through the cracks :(

Yay for Craigslist! I, unfortunately, haven't found much around our area...probably b/c you nabbed the great finds, right!? :)

p.s. the wall organizer I redid was originally from Costco...I think $14.99 so not too shabby :)
