Look What I Did!

I love to get projects finished - although sometimes I feel like it rarely happens in this house. But I finished one the other day and I'm really happy with the way it turned out - except for the fact that I wish I had used glossy paint for it - but I didn't have any. I might paint over it with a gloss. I've been meaning to do something like this since we moved into this house three years ago. Next up on the list? Baskets that fit the holes in the bench. I'm thinking of going with galvanized from Ikea.

Oops... I just realized I didn't say what in the world I did. I painted these little circles....

Hey, what's that on the bench? See it? Right there next to the basket?

Hey!! That's Jodi's prize! Three of my very favorite things!

I've been using Mrs. Meyer's stuff for a while now but they just came out with this new scent - Basil! And it is so yummy. I do have to admit, though, that while it's such a great scent - the hand soap is a little strong. But it smells so good. I was using the lavender (which is mixed with tangerine) and loved it and now have the dish and hand soap in basil. Only the latest and greatest will do for MY blog readers though - so I got Jodi the basil too. They also have a new baby line that I'm going to try. I should mention here (for any of the rest of you that might be interested) that I've found it at Fred Meyer for comparable prices to the web site.

The other little tub is Tangerine Sugar Scrub from Trader Joe's. It is so reasonably priced and I love it! I keep it in the shower and use it to shave with. Scrub it on, rinse and then shave with the good smelling oil it leaves on your skin. Helps to get a clean shave and prevent ingrown hairs. Amy also told me the other day that she ex foliates the skin on her arms. I had never even thought of that! My arms get kind of bumpy from the sun in the summer - so I've been using this and my arms are looking BEE-YOU-TIFUL. If I do say so myself.

So there you have it - I know you've had to wait a long time to find out about this prize. I hope you love it all as much as I do Jodi!

In some other blips of family news:
  • Adia is showing interest in potty training so I got her some big girl underwear and she's gone a couple times. I am SO excited about the prospect of this!
  • We have made some major headway in the "getting along with each other" area. I don't mean Justin and I..... Steele and Adia. I'm beginning to see some fruit from my training and also just the result of both of them getting older and maturing a bit. Yesterday Steele happily helped Adia take off her shoes and then ran into the living room yelling, "Let's go play cars and trucks Dee Dee!" This is BIG for us people! This is opposed to the, "No, no - you get away from my cars and trucks Dee Dee" that we've been experiencing for months.
Here's what I found this morning when I walked into their bedroom:

Makes a mama's heart sing!

And later in the morning....

  • Steele is going to be a ring bearer in a wedding this weekend. He's been going around the house, claws bared, saying, "I'm the ring bear. GRRRRRRR." Today I'm sewing a bow tie for him to wear with this cutie little outfit.

  • I'm also incredibly relieved to tell you that I worked out pain free last night. I still have a chiropractor appointment next week but I was so happy to be able to sweat! Phew!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Woo hoo!!! So I've been hearing about Mrs. Meyer's stuff for a long time now and EVERY TIME I see it in the store I pick it all up, smell it, look at it for a while, and then talk myself out of it. So this is such a perfect prize! Something I will love using but have shied away from buying for myself.

And I keep hearing good things about TJ's bath products, so I'll be excited to try that also. Thanks so much Cutzeroo!!!

Now then...at the risk of asking too much...how about a post on what you've been doing to train your kids to get along? I could seriously use some fresh inspiration.

Oh...and I love the circles. Love love love.

Jodi has a good idea for a post. Maybe a "ten things I couldn't do with out as a parent" type of thing.
Steele looks adorable! Love the shoes, and the tag loop on the belt.
The picture of Adia and Steele is so cute, love that you can see his little bum in the mirror and that he is not looking at Adia as she hands him the next block!
And the circles look great Cutz! Good job!

Thanks for the product tips! I've never heard of Mrs. Meyer's, but it sounds like something I'd love. What a thoughtful gift too. :)

Your kids are adorable. I think I've said that before, but they really are. It's great to hear that they are getting along better now. It's so exciting to see progress with these kinds of things.

Your project looks great by the way!

ditto to jodi about some tips for your kiddos getting along. we are having some improvement, but if tired and hungry and are in the house, then meltdowns happen and the fighting begins.

Ooh I am jealous of Jodi!! Mmmmmm Basil! Your project is adorable! The circles are so perfect. I love the galvinized idea...

Isn't nice when the kids get along more than fight??
Molly and Ryan are to a much easier stage right now, but then there is Kyle who love to not honor "personal space" sooo here we go again!

I love the video of feeding!! Steele reminds me of Ryan , in that he loves just lounging around in his undies. He is actually sitting on the couch watching cartoons in the unders now!

Have a great weekend!

I would also like to request any tips you can pass along on how you have been helping your kids learn to get along. It can be so exhausting, and I would love a fresh perspective!

Thanks!

So it's been a week or so since I've perused your blog but low and behold I found myself a ways down the page reading about myself....wahoo I'm famous! So here I am posting a comment to make you happy! I love your little bench. I drool over the ones in pottery barn's catalog. Too cute. Oh and nice job on the circles...very circle-y!

Sleepy in Kennewick!

Love the circles!

The galvanized bins will look awesome in there...I wish I had room for a little spot like that.

Ahhhhhh.....Mrs. Meyer's Basil scent. LOVE it. Doesn't smell like basil, though, does it? Smells like candy to me.

I could watch that video of Adia and Steel over and over again. SO SWEET!

You're not supposed to say that AFTER the fact. Oh well. Nothin' we can do about it now. I still love you - at least you always remember where I put my purse and keys.
